Career Exploration

Advisors help students identify potential career interests and set goals. Students then complete career exploration activities such as virtual or in-person internships, job simulations, shadowing experiences, or online courses. They also complete workshops on topics such as interviews, work-study programs, and resumes.

Research Scholars Program

6 outstanding students are selected for this highly competitive research program. Guided by a faculty or graduate student mentor, the students select an interdisciplinary academic research topic, take relevant online courses from top universities, complete virtual internships with top companies, and prepare a formal research paper to submit to a sponsoring journal for publication.

Communications Program

Past programs have had various themes including journalism, public speaking, debate, creative writing, visual arts, film production & editing, music production, and photography. Students will work on portfolios, prepare finished pieces, compete in competitions, and help create content for a global youth publication and social media.

Minds in Motion

Led by our Youth Advisory Board, Minds in Motion is a health and wellness initiative that promotes the benefits of various sports on the mental and physical health of teens and children. Minds in Motion campaigns include Waves Without Borders, FutureFencers, Girls Who Climb, and Starting Line.

Test Prep Program

We offer test free prep programs for the Graduate Equivalency Degree (GED), SAT, and TOEFL exams. We also periodically offer prep courses for specific vocational licensing exams (such as CompTIA A+). Class sizes are limited, and seats are filled on a first come, first served basis.

Students Against Violence Everywhere (SAVE) Promise Club

We have launched a chapter of Students Against Violence Everywhere (SAVE) Promise Club, the youth leadership initiative of Sandy Hook Promise. Members work to stop gun violence and make schools safer by fostering a culture of kindness and educating their communities.
